What great way to start the day with your spiritual fam, then have dimsum after that with your fam fam aye?
So that's exactly what I did! Despite having to wake up at 6:45am , let me repeat 6:45 AM, for the iLoveSingapore Walk, it was just lovely spending time with the people I love and treasure. Well, kick aside the fact that I had to actually WALK while talking (requires stamina y'know), it was a good idea to spend the Saturday morning with my cell.
Since my whole family overslept, we didnt really get to have any breakfast before heading off. So of course, given our huge appetites, we were hungry souls after the walk. Well, the distance wasn't exactly that long (5km), but we kinda walked for about 1 1/2 hours, so we were really starving.
Jie jie had to rush to her dental appointment at 10:30, so we decided to have some quick dimsum before her appointment. We ate at the Hokkee Shop (??), somewhere in Geylang and the food was just...meh. Not that great and quite expensive. Although I must really say, their har gao is SOOOOO DELICIOUS. The chee cheong fun is not bad too, it has a unique taste as they use mushroom sauce instead of the typical sweet sauce. Overall, I will rate this restaurant/coffee shop a 2/5. The Har gao and the chicken was their saving grace. Without that, it'll be a 0.5/5. Not to be mean but, money doesnt grow on trees my friend, and you know when you crave dimsum, you'll really wanna eat some good dimsum right? Hokkee should just stick to selling pau, really. Look for them if you crave some paus but not for dimsum.
While waiting for Jie, we decided to get my glasses fixed, AGAIN. This has been the third pair that had the nose piece broken. the third pair in 2 years. Wow, what great of a handler we have here. Anyway, I got them changed but they didnt have the same colour as my previous one, so I just got a black one with red sides. Honestly, I dont exactly fancy the red sides, but since I didnt have to pay for it, it'll make do. I shall just change the sides myself.
By the way, has anyone tried the Ritz Apple Strudel?!?! I've seen their shops like everywhere and had yet to try, so I went to get a mini one and my my my, it tasted heavenly. The crust is just so crisp and better, it really melts in your mouth once it enters it. AND, the apple filling, compliment with some cream, was not too sweet, but sweet enough to satisfy those tingling taste buds. Maybe because it is my first time trying apple strudel, but at least it started off on a good foot aye?
